MATT BIANCO

Some things get better with age. Red wine, self-confidence for example, and… Matt Bianco.

The legendary British group, whose name is a tribute to the world of super-spies of the 80s, began its international career four decades ago with its first hits “Half a minute”, “Get out of your lazy Bed”, “Whose side are you on?” or “Yeh, Yeh”.

Founded by singer-songwriter Mark Reilly, accompanied for over 25 years by pianist Mark Fisher, the Matt Bianco group has sold over 5 million albums worldwide, excelling in Latin Jazz, Sophisti Pop and Bossa Nova styles.

To date, Matt Bianco has recorded 12 albums with some of the best musicians of their generation.

In recent years, Matt Bianco has deliberately adopted a more assertive Latin Jazz style, referring to the style of spy film music from the 1950s.

It is an honor to welcome this legendary group to the first Aubeterre Summer Festival.

SHAKATAK

Shakatak is an English jazz funk band formed in 1980 by Bill Sharpe, Nigel Wright, Roger Odell and Keith Winter joined by Jill Saward. The band's name is a tribute to a Soho record store "London Record Shack" and their owner who were the first to believe in the band.

Due to the nature of their music, their fan base is vast while still retaining an 'underground' element. This paradox sees the band, known primarily for their musicianship, enjoy both a high 'cult' status among Jazz-Funk fans and international recognition thanks to their many worldwide hits.

A band with a jazzy and very danceable sound, Shakatak has impacted the charts around the world with titles like "down on the street", "Night Birds", "Day by day" with Al Jarreau and "watching you".

In over 40 years, Shakatak's success has never waned. The band is still performing and continues to travel the world to the delight of lovers of this joyful and very "feel good" group.

For live performances, the band consists of the original members: Bill Sharpe (keyboards), Jill Saward (vocals, percussion and flute), Roger Odell (drums), George Anderson (bass and guitar) and Keith Winter (guitar) completed by Jacqui Hicks (saxophone) or Debby Bracknell (flute) offering an extremely dynamic show.
